This shop sign, which appeared in March, clearly fails to meet the standards layed out in "Guidance for Business", or Policy Des 13 of the Local Development Plan.

I reported it to Planning Enforcement, who have said "I can now advise you that the investigation into the issues raised has now been completed. On the basis of the findings of that investigation, it has been determined that no further action now needs to be taken in respect of the matter."

The handling report says:
"Subject to conditions, Schedule 4, Class IV of the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) (Scotland) Regulations 1984 provides deemed consent for the display of advertisements. Class IV of the Schedule allows for the display of Advertisement on Business Premises provided that:
- Maximum height of letters are 0.75 m;
- Maximum height of the highest part of the display is below the first floor level of the building.
In this context the installation of the signage is compliant with the planning regulations and no breach of planning control occurred."

Note there is no reference to the LDP or Guidance document. Why is it that a clear breach of the rules is allowed on this listed building in a conservation area?
