Planning Enforcement Report March 2023

In terms of [Sofia's Lounge] Salisbury Road, when we last updated the Community Council it appeared that we may be making progress to conclude the matter but since then the owner has not engaged with us and we had to write to the business last week seeking clarification on when the outdoor seating structure will be removed. We haven't received a reply and moreover, are now aware that a neighbour has concerns that further unauthorised works may be taking place in the garden. In response we have advised Cllr Pogson that we will carry out an unannounced visit to establish what is happening. It should be noted that the owners have previously intimated that they are looking to install new outdoor seating pods in the rear garden to replace the unauthorised structures but are aware that any new structures will require planning permission. Once we have visited, we will update Cllr Pogson on our findings and what the next steps will be.

Regarding the Black Rooster on Clerk Street, the owner of the business has recently been in contact with us seeking clarification on what works are required to resolve the matter. We will be responding to him this week with a view to getting appropriate remedial works underway.

In terms of Los Argentinos 28 -30 West Preston Street, since my last update an application for planning permission was submitted for the existing shopfront and sign (22/05695/FUL). Legal services have advised us to await decision on the application before taking further enforcement action.

I hope this information is of assistance.
Regards
Kevin
